Tauck Adds

Tauck Adds "A Week In... Russia" to its Expanding Eastern Europe Portfolio

NORWALK, CT (January 27, 2005)  A year after Tauck introduced their 14-day “St. Petersburg, Moscow & the Baltics” trip – their most successful new product launch in five years – the company has added an 8-day Russia trip to satisfy soaring customer demand.  The new “A Week In… Russia” itinerary spends three nights in Moscow and four nights in St. Petersburg, exploring the cities’ cultural and historic sites with “insider” visits to selected attractions.  The 8 day/7 night itinerary is priced from $3,080 per person (plus air), and offers departures in June, July and August.

The trip begins with three days in Moscow and is highlighted by a special lecture from a Kremlin insider, a tour of the Kremlin, a visit to Red Square, and a “Tauck-exclusive” lunch and wine tasting inside Josef Stalin’s hidden bunker.  Tauck guests will also visit the State Tretyakov Gallery, and enjoy a performance at the acclaimed Moscow Circus.

Company president Robin Tauck said that Tauck guests will enjoy special, upscale accommodations during their stay in Moscow.  “Unlike cruises or riverboat trips in the region, where you can stay as much as 45 minutes outside of Moscow, our luxury tours feature rooms at the Hotel Baltschug Kempinski which literally overlooks the Kremlin.  To be just steps away from such an important world site is incredibly compelling.”

In St. Petersburg, guests will experience the Hermitage Museum, renowned as the largest museum in the world, and see works of art by Rembrandt, Monet, Degas, Botticelli and others at the Winter Palace of Catherine the Great.  Guests will also enjoy a host of other experiences, including an evening at the St. Petersburg Ballet and a visit to the outlying town of Petrodvoretz to explore the opulent palace of Peter the Great.

“Our guests can’t get enough of Russia,” said Tauck.  “When we introduced our 14-day ‘St. Petersburg, Moscow & the Baltics’ trip last year it sold out immediately, and when we added more dates those sold out immediately as well.”  Besides adding the “A Week In… Russia” trip, Tauck has responded to the region’s popularity by adding additional departures to its 14-day Russia trip for 2005, and by launching a new 14-day Baltics cruise/tour (since sold out) that spends three nights in St. Petersburg.

“A Week In… Russia” is the 10th trip in Tauck’s best-selling “A Week In…” series.  Perfect for travelers with limited time, the trips typically feature two- and three- night stays in Europe’s most charming cities.  Each “A Week In…” itinerary also routinely offers weekend departures, so travelers can easily link trips for a customized experience.
