Tauck Introduces “Croatia & Slovenia” Itinerary
New Program Reflects Popularity Of Both Balkan Peninsula And Europe
NORWALK, CT (October 31, 2006) Tauck World Discovery will launch its second journey in the Balkans next year when it kicks off its new “Croatia & Slovenia” program in May. The new 11-day itinerary (from $3,990 per person, plus air) follows the 2005 introduction of its very popular “Venice & The Dalmatian Coast” cruise itinerary.
“After a very successful launch in ’05, we saw double-digit growth in our ‘Venice & The Dalmatian Coast’ cruise this year,” said Tauck President/CEO, Robin Tauck. “Croatia and southeastern Europe are generating tremendous interest, and we’re very excited to offer this new land-based trip which perfectly complements the Dalmatian Coast cruise.”
Where Tauck’s Dalmatian Coast cruise begins in Venice and travels the length of Croatia’s breathtaking coastline, the new “Croatia & Slovenia” itinerary highlights a host of cities along Croatia’s southern coast before venturing into the nation’s interior. The first five days of the new trip provide in-depth explorations of Dubrovnik, the island of Hvar, Split, Trogir and Sibenik, including visits to four local UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Guests then travel inland to experience the scenic waterfalls of Krka National Park and the lively capital city of Zagreb before proceeding to Slovenia where they visit the national capital of Ljubljana and the charming resort village of Bled.
The new itinerary features a relaxing pace with two-night stays in each of five luxury hotels, including the five-star Grand Villa Argentina in Dubrovnik, the beautiful new oceanside Le Meridien Lav, Split, and the five-star landmark Regent Esplanade, Zagreb. Guests will also enjoy a number of insider, “off-the-beaten-path” experiences as well as generous time for independent exploration in most every city featured in the itinerary. Included in the price are all accommodations, all on-tour transportation including airport transfers, 23 meals, all sightseeing, admission to all attractions, and more.
TAUCK RECORDS STRONG PRE-SEASON EUROPEAN SALES
Tauck’s new Croatia itinerary reflects the company’s continued strong and widespread presence in Europe, where it will operate 41 different land, ocean and river cruise itineraries in 2007. Pre-season bookings in Europe are up sharply for Tauck, with sales of land journeys there up 32% and overall business in Europe up 35% over the same time last year. Europe is the single largest foreign market for the Connecticut-based operator, representing over 40% of its business in 2006.
