Tauck Plans Continued Aggressive Growth For “Tauck At Sea” Cruise PortfolioTauck Launching Six New Cruises Next Year, Following 60% Growth In ’05Norwalk, CT (9/28/05) Coming off of a record year that saw 60% growth in its cruise products in 2005, Tauck World Discovery is anticipating continued dramatic growth in the category for 2006. The Connecticut-based company will offer more than 150 departures on 17 itineraries in the Mediterranean, Aegean, Adriatic, and Baltic Seas, plus voyages in Alaska, Latin America, Antarctica, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. More than 35% of the company’s Tauck at Sea itineraries for 2006 are new, but growth is also coming from existing trips, said company president Robin Tauck. “Advance bookings for our ‘Treasures of the Aegean’ voyage are up 240% over a year ago,” explained Tauck, “and our ‘Alaska’s Inside Passage’ trip is up 50%, so there’s incredible interest in our established Tauck at Sea itineraries as well as our new products.” A Unique Cruising ExperienceTauck credits the success to the unique approach the company takes when designing its voyages. “The Tauck at Sea experience is very different from the typical cruise,” said Tauck. “Whether it’s on one of our elegant yachts with just 60 passengers, our perfectly outfitted expeditionary vessels, or our specially-selected luxury liners, our guests are part of a fully-escorted, select group so they enjoy a very intimate, in-depth experience.”The company also draws on its 80 years of experience offering superior guided land journeys to supplement most of its cruises with enriching, engaging city stays. For example, along with a seven-night voyage aboard Le Ponant, Tauck’s “Treasures of the Mediterranean” includes a three-night stay in Provence, a night at the Fairmont Monte-Carlo in Monaco, and a night at Le Meridien Phoenicia in Valettta, Malta. What’s more, explained Tauck, the company’s cruise products offer significant value. “Our Tauck at Sea itineraries have virtually everything built into the price. For example, we include deluxe accommodations for land components, all private Tauck shore excursions, all meals aboard ship and most meals during land segments, all port charges and taxes, wine with shipboard dinners on all but one cruise, all gratuities to ship’s staff, all admissions on featured sightseeing, and the services of our professional, knowledgeable Tauck Directors who accompany each journey.” Six New Cruises for '06Two of Tauck’s six cruises debuting next year will be Mediterranean voyages aboard Holland America’s brand-new MS Noordam, the luxury liner slated for launch early next year. Guests on the 15-day “Cruising Mediterranean Shores” (from $6,330; May – September) will spend two nights at Rome’s Cavalieri Hilton and two nights in Florence at the Westin Excelsior before exploring the western Mediterranean aboard the Noordam for 10 days. The itinerary also visits Monte-Carlo, Pisa, Barcelona, Majorca, Carthage, Palermo, Naples, and Pompeii.“Cruising Ancient Seacoasts” (from $6,190; May – September) also begins with two nights each in Rome and Florence, then spends 10 days aboard the Noordam exploring sites along the eastern Mediterranean including Dubrovnik, Corfu, Santorini, Kusadasi and Ephesus (Turkey), Malta and Sicily. Further north, Tauck’s “St. Petersburg & the Baltic Sea” (from $6,490; June – August) offers 12 days of relaxation and discovery. Guests enjoy two nights in Copenhagen at the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel before boarding the Radisson Seven Seas Voyager for a seven-night cruise through the Baltic Sea with visits to Gotland Island, Tallinn (Estonia), St. Petersburg and Pushkin in Russia, and Stockholm. The journey’s final night is also spent at the Hilton Colon Guayaquil. The rugged, pristine coast of Chile awaits those traveling on Tauck’s new 14-night “Chilean Fjords” voyage (from $5,590; February) aboard Le Diamant. The journey also visits the historic quarter of Valparaiso, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as Chile’s beautiful Lake District, the city of Castro, and Chiloe Island. Guests will also marvel at fjords, glaciers and national parks as they explore Patagonia, the Strait of Magellan, Cape Horn and Tierra del Fuego. Finally, a 12-day cruise aboard the Diamond Princess through Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand is just one part of Tauck’s 21-day “Cruising Down Under” (from $7,190; January, February, March).
