Tauck World Discovery, Collette Vacations Partner To Make Over Rhode Island Native American School

NORWALK, CT (June 13, 2008) More than 50 volunteers from Tauck World Discovery and Collette Vacations joined together today to tackle a wide range of maintenance and beautification projects at the Nuweetooun School in Exeter, Rhode Island. The school is a program of the Tomaquag Museum and one of a handful of Native American schools in the Northeast. It provides a curriculum that integrates core educational standards, Native American culture, and environmental studies for students in grades K to 8.

The volunteer effort was organized by Collette Vacations’ Collette Foundation, with the cooperation of Tauck's philanthropic arm, Tauck World Of Giving. At the event, Collette and Tauck volunteers teamed with members of the Nuweetooun School to paint the school’s entire exterior, its classrooms, and library. Other projects included staining handicap access ramps, landscaping the school grounds, and organizing storage and file space in the basement.

“This was a great and productive experience for everyone involved,” said Daniel Sullivan, Jr., President and CEO of Collette Vacations. “These were much needed improvements for the non-profit, which relies heavily on donations, grants and a limited staff. It was great to work with Tauck to make a difference for these children.”

Tauck President Robin Tauck echoed Sullivan’s enthusiasm. “I’m so proud of what the Collette and Tauck volunteers accomplished together,” said Tauck. “Both companies are deeply committed to giving back, and it was great to see that commitment in action here today.
