Named Travel Industry’s Best

NORWALK, CT (June 17, 2008) The Reservations Sales Center at Tauck World Discovery was honored recently with the 2008 WAVE Award in the “Most Knowledgeable Reservations Staff“ category. The award was presented to the Norwalk-based company at a black-tie gala on June 5th in Beverly Hills, as part of TravelAge West magazine’s annual “WAVE” (Western Agents’ Votes of Excellence) awards celebrating the best in the travel industry.

Tauck CEO Dan Mahar was especially pleased to see the company’s Reservations Sales Center staff singled out for praise. “For many of our guests and travel agents, their very first experience with Tauck involves a conversation with one of our Reservations Sales Counselors,” said Mahar. “It’s impossible to overstate the importance of making a positive, helpful first impression, and that’s exactly what our staff does day-in and day-out. Our Reservations Sales Counselors average over 10 years experience with Tauck, and it certainly shows in the level of knowledge and the quality of service they provide to our guests and agents.”

Over 125 companies, individuals and destinations were celebrated at the awards ceremony. Honorees were recognized in 47 categories that spanned the cruise, tour operator, airline, hotel and resort, and destination travel fields. "The WAVE Awards are a celebration of excellence in travel products, services and destinations,” said Michelle Rosenberg, publisher of TravelAge West. “This year’s WAVE winners have consistently demonstrated excellence within the travel marketplace.”

The company has been family-owned and operated since its first tour in 1925, and it has been honored with more than 50 awards over the years.
